Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, leading to different types of breakouts such as pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads. Blackheads, also known as open comedones, form when pores get clogged with oil and debris, and instead of closing, they remain open, allowing the trapped material to oxidize and turn dark in color. While popping blackheads may seem like a quick fix, doing so with dirty hands or improper techniques can push bacteria deeper into the skin, leading to irritation, infection, or even permanent scarring.
